Keep Live Music Alive 2021 Fan Favorite: Matt MacDonald
At the onset of Mozart’s Singer-Songwriter showcase, officially hosted over four days from March 16 through March 19, local performer Matt MacDonald went above and beyond on and off stage.
The flow of cafe-goers and music lovers couldn’t help but turn their heads to admire his comfortable stage presence and excellent vocal control-- so much so that Mozart's staff began calling Mozart’s Music Coordinator, Chloe Youtsey, to confirm his exceptional performance.
“This guy’s the real deal!”
As smoothly as the event began, by day two massive gusts of wind had toppled one of Mozart’s house speakers, damaging the equipment & creating potential complications for the 20 more performers scheduled to come through by the week's end.
Present near the time of the fall, in the spirit of "The show must go on,” Matt put himself into the role of Sound Guy for the rest of the day and the day following, even assisting newcomer musicians in set up.
For the remainder of the showcase, Matt volunteered himself for EQing feedback and lent moral support to his fellow Showcase performers, many of whom he already knew from his years spent hosting weekly open-mics around Austin.
For his generous spirit, his superb musicianship, and his extra conscientious efforts in assuring that our musical week went on without a hitch, Mozart’s selects Matt MacDonald as the Keep Live Music Alive 2021 Showcase Fan Favorite.
We thank you Matt, and look forward to hosting you again!
