Chloe Youtsey & Black Coffee
“An emerging artist recognized at the Kennedy Center's 20th Annual Betty Carter Jazz Ahead international residency (Washington D.C.) Chloe Youtsey (pronounced Yahtzee) is making her mark on the local Austin scene. A singer-songwriter, with a taste for jazz, oldies, R&B, bossa nova, and "tasteful pop," Chloe's solo career has been marked by 6 years of performing for weddings, restaurants, professional gatherings, private parties, jazz cafes, as well as being an active teacher and musical theater director! Chloe currently performs both as a soloist and a revolving member of a few jazz groups around Austin and San Antonio.”
Not only has Chloe graced us with her unbelievably beautiful voice during live music at Mozart’s, but she’s written a song about Black Coffee! Here’s what Chloe has to say about her song and how you can listen to it.
““Black Coffee” is actually a three year old song now at this point, and I’d love to re-record it someday in an actual studio...
What you hear was done in one take on piano on a handheld mic stationed just perfectly still with the acoustics of my parent’s bathroom to assist.
Additionally, I recorded the voice bit in the pantry downstairs into the wee hours of the morning so I wouldn’t wake my family up! I recorded it right before I moved to Austin in an attempt to spiffy up my Bandcamp account, which is the only online portfolio I had before my YouTube channel and my website, which is just www.chloeyoutsey.com.
I wrote “Black Coffee” as a double entendre of what a caffeinated drink could do for you on a rainy day as well as what the deep well of someone’s brown eyes could do for you in the night.”
