As Austin Restricts Restaurant Operations, Mozart's Responds to Restaurant Worker Needs with Online Delivery and New Baked Goods

"Our people matter more than anything.  We will do things that this very talented team can help put together to assist our employees...".  With the operation now going through its necessary calibration of hours reduction, we will move to what we can and will try next that will unleash new opportunities for our talent here at Mozarts." - Owner of Mozart's, Ken Leonard.

As discussed in an article released by the NY Times, "the workers who are feeling the effects of the pullback first are the ones least able to afford it: low-wage, hourly employees, many of whom aren’t paid if they miss work. Only one-third of leisure and hospitality workers have access to any paid time off, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics."

Collaboration is the name of the game these days as the news is constantly changing. Yesterday, Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt announced that restaurants are limited to drive-thru, pick-up and delivery service; bars must close; and gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited in Austin effective noon Tuesday. Although this news was difficult to hear for the team at Mozart's Coffee Roasters, with good spirits and willingness to adapt, we've rallied together to make some positive changes to keep the staff safe and employed all while following social distancing in the workplace.

Optimistic Future

In light of everything going on, we remain hopeful. As you can see below, we are taking every possible measure to ensure safe social distancing. We have set up tables so that our customers can enjoy their pick-up orders and delivery orders outside on our deck. Also to enjoy fresh air by the lake!

Our leadership staff is working day and night to accommodate to the best of their abilities as well as think creatively as to how we can move forward with hope, with confidence, and with caffeine for all.

We removed a total of 33 tables that are now stacked up (see below!). We have blocked off, for no access the Grotto and Upper Grotto meaning 28 seats no longer accessible outside. Mozart's is now reduced by more than 60% its outside spacing for the sake of Safe Socializing and proper Social Distancing. The result is there is NO LESS than 11 feet between any single table at Mozarts.
