Green Bean Storage

As you know, Mozart’s is known for many things, one being that we roast our coffee in house. On any given day that you step foot on our lakeside abode, you will find the original roaster in the roasting room right outside our front doors!

What you probably didn’t know is where we keep all of our green beans. First of all, green beans aren’t the ones you eat for dinner. What we mean by green beans are the coffee beans we have that are in their natural state aka before roasting.

Our Head Roaster, Jack Ranstrom, takes a trip to our off-site storage unit 3 TIMES A WEEK to pick up fresh green beans! That’s a lot of coffee. Jack says, “In storage we keep about three months worth of coffee which is 10,000 Green pounds that I have to personally inventory batch out of and re-load every few weeks.”

Meet McKenna: Musician, Rower, and Iced Green Tea Lover

McKenna Michels has quite the story. You can find her playing music almost every weekend at Mozart’s, but her journey to get there was more a leap of faith. Here is what McKenna has to say about facing her fears and doing something she has never done before.

“I have two special experiences at Mozart’s. The first is when I met Stacey (one of the owners of Mozart’s Coffee Roasters). I am a musician and had never performed. I had about 3 songs written and wanted to start doing something with them. I had seen music at Mozart’s before and knew it was similar to my sound. So the Saturday before Mother’s Day 2019 I went in and asked how I could play, which was a major leap of faith for me. Stacey listened to my nervous pitch and took the chance to listen to my music. She responded “how about tomorrow?”. For me, this moment was special because it was a major milestone for me to gain the confidence to perform. Mozart’s took a chance on me from day one and gave me the chance to start following my dreams.

Meet Zina: The Mozart’s Regular Cat

Meeeoww I’m a mixed breed hybrid rescue cat. Officially an F2 Savannah.

My name is West African and means free spirit because my granddad was a 45 pound African Serval.

I’m small for my breed and darker because my great grandmother was a Bengal which comes from an Asian Leopard Cat.

When my human @projectstewritten gave me my 3rd and forever home they told her I’d never be a lap cat, never go on adventures, and probably hide a lot. They were wrong.

We rescued each other. I’m her emotional support Pet and together we go all kinds of places. Car rides, airplanes, and even boats! I still get nervous but I love our adventures.

If you see a kitty stuffed in a back pack around Austin. It’s me. Come say hello 👋

Zina loves to frequent Mozart’s with her human. You can follow along on other Zina adventures by following @zinaagent009 on Instagram!

Worth The Distance

We hear Mozart’s stories left and right. We love to not only hear them, but to share them with you! We met Jovannah over Instagram when she expressed her love and devotion for Mozart’s. Here’s what she had to say when asked what keeps her coming back time and time again.

“Vermont, DC, Florida, Georgia, California… my husband and I have been all over the country, and being the coffee fanatics that we are. We make sure to scout out new coffee shops to visit everywhere we go. In my mind I can picture them: walking along the street lined with towering Florida palms; rushing in to escape the chilly winds on Fisherman’s wharf; cozying up by the fireplace in the home converted to a coffee shop. While these are among some of our favorites, there is something special about Mozart’s that keeps us coming back (so much so that we don’t even mind the hour long drive from our home).

Our favorite things about Mozart’s are the atmosphere, and the coffee, of course!

The outdoor area is so inviting with its wide wooden deck, large shady trees, string lights, and a great view of the lake. It is so enjoyable sitting out with a nice iced vanilla latte (my drink of choice), or a cortado (my husbands drink of choice). And hey, our daughter loves it, too! 😉

In addition to the in house drinks, we absolutely love that they offer coffee beans as well! We love that they are freshly roasted and give us a little taste of Mozart’s at home; carrying us over until our next trip!”

Thank you so much for driving the distance and sharing your love of Mozart’s with us. We hope to see you and your family back again soon!

A Mozart’s Love Story : Randi and Jesse

People come to Mozart’s for many different reasons. Whether it’s stopping in on your way out of town or sitting in the same spot under the tree every Sunday — there’s something special about our lakeside abode.

Take it from these two: Randi & Jesse.

On any given day, you may find Randi and her husband Jesse sitting out on the patio. What you may not know about them is that they actually met at Mozart’s! We asked Randi about that day, and this is how it goes. “So my husband and I met accidentally, through a whirlwind of poor timing, (my friend was running late, his parents were in town because he’d just become an attorney) and were destined to be together.  His little dog broke off her leash and attacked my large great dane (puppy at the time!) – (Great Dane, Charlotte, is 6yo now!) and I asked him if this was how he tried to pick up women. He said, on that day, that it was. We began some lighthearted banter –  and we’ve been together since.”

Randi goes on to mention what Mozart’s means to her. “This shop is a home away from home for me.  When my husband and I have family or friends staying at our house, it’s the first place we bring people.  When we need an escape one or both of us will head over.  We can sit and work, focus on what we need to, and are always around kind people and delicious brews.  It’s also a great place to just work quietly, as a lot of my sales job revolves around typing and honing in on proposals, and I can edit and work freely – with the most perfect bottomless drinks in the summer and always-outdoor-months in Austin!”

What a story! Randi says she studied here during undergrad from 2000-2004 and has been frequenting ever since. She says no matter where she goes in life, she will always come back to Mozart’s!

Her go to drink: extra ice, bottomless black tea.  Right amount of caffeine and bite, cold and crisp every time!

Randi and Jesse — your Mozart’s family loves you. Be sure to say hi to them next time you’re at Mozart’s. I’m sure they would love to meet you!
